Clinical Pharmacist II Acute Care- General Cardiology/Internal Medicine

About this role

In the acute care setting, the Clinical Pharmacist II Acute Care supports general cardiology and internal medicine teams and prepares and dispenses prescribed medications. Responsibilities include maintaining efficient and effective medication therapy and dispensing practices, assessing the appropriateness of drug use, providing nursing and educational support, and supervising pharmacy technicians.

Essential Job Function:
• Interprets and follows physician instructions to deliver the correct care to the correct patient.
• Oversees and verifies prescription order entry, packaging and dispensing.
• Provides and monitors pharmacy driven protocols, drug utilization and medication-related information to healthcare professionals, patients and the public.
• Supervises pharmacy technicians.
• Precepts students.
• Collaborates with healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to optimize medication therapy and ensure patient safety.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Education:
• Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharmacy.

Experience:
• Required: 3 years

Licensure/Certification/Listing:
• Required: Registered Pharmacist in NC within 60 days of hire. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
